DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY

TOOTH EXTRACTIONS

At times, a patient needs a tooth extracted and a simple extraction will not get the job done. When this is the case, a surgical extraction is performed. This involves the oral surgeon making an incision into the patient's gums so the tooth can be reached and extracted. It can be performed under local or general anesthesia.

Common reasons a tooth might be tooth extraction include severe tooth decay, damage or infection.

WISDOME TEETH

The four wisdom teeth or the molars, located at the far end of the jaw are the last molars. These teeth generally appear between the ages of 17 - 25.

Most of the time, the wisdom tooth appears to be either crooked or impacted or one lying perpendicular to the teeth roots.

Sometimes, even if erupted properly, the cavity can form on the innermost side of the tooth.

If a wisdom tooth is impacted or in other words doesn't have room to grow - there will be pain and discomfort which will eventually result in the development of infection or other dental problems. In most of these cases, you will be advised to extract or pull out the wisdom tooth.

IT IS DONE AT Dr. Jairaj Dental and Face Clinic WITHOUT ANY PAIN.

Corrective Jaw Surgery

Also called orthognathic surgery, this is used to fix a variety of minor and major dental and skeletal irregularities, like a misaligned jaw. The procedure can drastically improve the patient's ability to breathe, speak and chew properly.

Bone Grafting

If a patient ignores a missing tooth for too long, then the jawbone under the empty spot will weaken or be resorbed over time. When this happens, the bone is no longer strong enough to support a dental implant.

Thankfully, oral surgeons can fix the problem of a weak jawbone. By using the patient’s own bone from one section to shore up another, this bone grafting strengthens the target spot and readies it to receive an implant.
